KUALA TERENGGANU: Sculptors and craftsmen from Kuala Lumpur will help in the restoration of the 209-year-old Ho Ann Kiong temple.

The Terengganu Hokkien Association has commissioned an architect firm to reconstruct the temple, which was damaged in a fire on Feb 22.

“The firm is an expert on ancient Chinese architecture and is willing to rebuild the temple,” said association secretary Tan Seng Beng after an emergency committee meeting yesterday.

Tan said the association had also decided to set up two separate committees, one to oversee the fund-raising for the restoration work and another to concentrate on the restoration.

The association hopes to raise RM1mil. For inquiries, contact Tan at 019-9845128, Wee Cheng Huat at 012-9885366, Toh Pee Jin at 019-9847577 or the association secretariat at 09-6222716.

Terengganu Putera MIC will embark on a donation drive to collect funds for the temple.
